In this episode of our podcast, we dive into the murky waters of the horror sequel "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." As fans of the genre, we were eager to dissect the film's plot, character dynamics, and its place within the horror landscape, especially in comparison to the iconic "Scream" franchise. However, what we found was a film riddled with plot holes and questionable character decisions that left us questioning its effectiveness as a sequel. With the upcoming release of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," it's the perfect time to revisit this series and explore its evolution.

The film attempts to build on the suspense and intrigue of its predecessor, but falls short in execution. The plot, centered around a group of friends lured to a remote island under false pretenses, is marred by inconsistencies and illogical decisions. The motivations of the killer, while initially intriguing, unravel under scrutiny, leaving viewers with more questions than answers.

Character dynamics, a crucial element in any horror film, are similarly underdeveloped. The romantic moments, intended to provide depth and tension, often come across as awkward and forced. Supporting characters, who could have added richness to the narrative, are instead relegated to mere plot devices, their potential squandered.

It's impossible to discuss "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" without drawing comparisons to the "Scream" franchise. Both films emerged during the late 90s slasher revival, yet "Scream" managed to capture the zeitgeist with its clever meta-commentary and sharp writing. In contrast, "I Still Know" struggles to find its footing, lacking the wit and self-awareness that made "Scream" a cultural touchstone.

The island setting, while initially promising, quickly becomes a logistical nightmare. The film's mechanics, from the implausible travel arrangements to the killer's seemingly supernatural ability to anticipate every move, strain credulity. These elements, rather than enhancing the horror, detract from the film's overall impact.

Humor within horror can be a powerful tool, providing relief and contrast to the tension. However, in "I Still Know," the humor often feels misplaced, undermining the film's attempts at building suspense. The balance between scares and laughs is a delicate one, and unfortunately, this sequel tips too far into the realm of the absurd.

Despite the film's shortcomings, the cast delivers commendable performances, doing their best with the material at hand. The atmosphere of the resort, with its eerie isolation and impending storm, provides a suitably creepy backdrop, even if the execution leaves much to be desired.

Ultimately, "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" is a film of missed opportunities. The potential for franchise development is evident, yet the film's inability to capitalize on its strengths leaves it floundering. With the new movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer" on the horizon, there's hope that the series can reclaim its former glory and captivate a new generation of horror fans.

In conclusion, while "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" offers moments of nostalgia and intrigue, it ultimately falls short of its potential. For fans of the genre, it serves as a reminder of the challenges inherent in crafting a successful sequel. As we look forward to "I Know What You Did Last Summer," we can only hope that it learns from the past and delivers a film worthy of its legacy.

Flashbacks to Brody and Quint clashing.

Callie and Jack falling in love over shared trauma.

A great white shark silently stalking the shoreline.

EXT. OCEANFRONT WEDDING — NEXT DAY

The wedding begins on a floating platform. The shark circles below. Guests dance to "Seas the Day (It's Our Wedding!)", an upbeat number that’s cut off by a sudden BOOM — the shark breaches and crashes into the dance floor.

CLIMAX — FLOATING ALTAR / BOAT CHASE

Jack and Callie, still in wedding attire, chase the shark in The Orca II. They strap harpoons to drone-mounted speakers blasting “ABBA-style” power ballads to lure the shark (it’s attracted to rhythmic vibrations, obviously).

Callie ends it with a dramatic slow-motion harpoon toss — as she sings "I Do (But Also, Die Shark!)".

The shark explodes in a sea of rose petals and chum. Everyone cheers.

          EPILOGUE — BEACH PARTY

The wedding resumes on land. The townsfolk sing a final reprise:

"Shark Week Is Over (Let's Get Married)".

          FADE OUT

          TEXT ON SCREEN:

"JAWS 5: Bloodlines" — The love story with real bite.

Sequel lovers, as we turn the calendar to July, let's look at the sequels coming up for the 2nd half of the year! Who knows, we might be covering these soon. Let us know one you'd like to see us cover!

Summer – July to August 2025

M3GAN 2.0 – June 27 (just missed summer, but close) - I enjoyed the 1st one, hope the 2nd one can keep up and add some new elements.

Jurassic World: Rebirth – July 2 - Love me some Scarjo and Dinosaurs.

Superman – July 11 - Very interested in this one because I love the casting. I hope James Gunn can nail this because the advertising and tone of the trailer have me hooked. Also, who doesn't love Ms. Maisel?

The Old Guard 2 (Netflix) – July 2 - The 1st one had a lot of action, but the poster of this is throwing me off, but it's got Uma in this one.

Bring Her Back, I Know What You Did Last Summer – July 18th I am stoked for this one. The original is one of my favorites, and this trailer is solid. If this works, can we requel Urban Legends??

Fall – September to October 2025

The Conjuring: Last Rites – September 5 - I saw the original and it scared the shit about me and I have enjoyed each installment since. The universe created by the original is pretty amazing.

The Strangers: Chapter 2, September 26, 2025 - I hope this one is better than the last. As I write this, I am watching The Always Sunny Crew on Hot Ones. His role in the original was wild.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 – December 5 - Not for me, but I intend to watch the original soon.

The Black Phone 2	October 17, 2025 - LOVED the original so let's see what this has in store.

Holiday – November to December 2025

          Predator: Badlands November 7, 2025 - CAN'T WAIT! I loved PREY.

Now You See Me: Now You Don't – November 14 - Great cast and great magic. The 1st two films are really are enjoyable, so cheers to another.

Zootopia 2 – November 26 - Loved the 1st one, and it's in the rotation with the family often.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery – December 12 - CAN'T WAIT. Loved the 1st one, 2nd one was okay, but I am expecting a big bounce back with the 3rd.

Avatar: Fire and Ash – December 19 - These movies I have no interest in, but understand the appeal.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants – December 19 - SpongeBob is in the top 5 cartoons ever, so I am quite excited for this. A show that is still good and gets better and better.

          Enjoy the sequels!

          INT. SKI LODGE - NIGHT

The scene opens on a cozy, picturesque ski lodge decorated for Christmas. The lodge is bustling with holiday cheer. A Christmas tree glows warmly in the corner, and carolers can be heard singing outside. The camera pans to a sign on the wall: "WELCOME TO WINTER HAVEN SKI LODGE".

          INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

The kitchen is busy with staff preparing a Christmas feast. We focus on a tray of freshly baked gingerbread men cooling on the counter. Suddenly, the room temperature drops dramatically. Frost forms on the windows. One of the gingerbread men begins to twitch and move, growing larger and more menacing until it becomes the GINGERDEAD MAN, his icing forming a sinister grin.

          (laughing maniacally)

          Time to spice things up!

          CUT TO:

          EXT. SKI LODGE - NIGHT

Outside, a fierce snowstorm is brewing. The snow begins to swirl unnaturally, coalescing into the shape of a menacing snowman with jagged icicles for teeth and coal-black eyes. This is JACK FROST, THE MUTANT KILLER SNOWMAN.

          (growling)

There’s only room for one holiday horror around here...

INT. SKI LODGE - LOBBY - NIGHT

Guests are mingling, sipping hot cocoa, and enjoying the warmth of the fireplace. Suddenly, the front door bursts open, and a cold wind blows in, sending shivers through the crowd. Jack Frost steps inside, his presence immediately lowering the temperature.

          JACK FROST

          (to the guests)

Merry Christmas... You're all on ice!

Panic ensues as guests scramble to get away. The camera follows Jack Frost as he advances, freezing everything in his path. Then, from the kitchen, the Gingerdead Man bursts into the lobby, brandishing a candy cane shiv.

          GINGERDEAD MAN

          (to Jack Frost)

Hey frosty! You think you can crash my party?

          JACK FROST

          (snarling)

          Gingerbread? More like gingerDEAD!

INT. SKI LODGE - MAIN HALL - NIGHT

The two holiday horrors face off in the main hall, the terrified guests watching from the shadows. Jack Frost summons ice shards and hurls them at the Gingerdead Man, who nimbly dodges and counters with sharp gingerbread shurikens.

          GINGERDEAD MAN

          (smirking)

Let’s see how you handle some holiday spice!

He opens his mouth and breathes out a cloud of scalding hot gingerbread crumbs, searing through Jack Frost’s icy exterior. Jack Frost roars in pain, the heat causing him to partially melt.

          JACK FROST

          (roaring)

          You’ll pay for that, cookie!

He waves his branch-like arms, summoning a blizzard inside the lodge. The temperature plummets even further as snow and ice swirl around them. The Gingerdead Man is thrown against the wall, struggling to maintain his form.

          GINGERDEAD MAN

          (grunting)

          Is that all you got?

          JACK FROST

          (grinning)

          Not even close.

Jack Frost lunges, his icicle claws extended. But at the last moment, the Gingerdead Man grabs a nearby Christmas tree, using it as a shield. The tree shatters into sparkling fragments, momentarily blinding Jack Frost.

          GINGERDEAD MAN

          (screaming)

          Eat this!

He leaps forward, jamming his candy cane shiv into Jack Frost’s chest. The mutant snowman freezes in place, a look of shock on his face, before exploding into a shower of snowflakes and ice.

          (panting, triumphant)

          Looks like you're snowed under.

The guests slowly come out of hiding, cautiously approaching the Gingerdead Man, who is catching his breath.

          Thank you... You saved us.

          (grinning wickedly)

Don't thank me yet. Dessert’s not over.

His eyes gleam with malice as he looks around at the remaining guests, who realize the horror isn't over. They scream and run as the Gingerdead Man gives chase, laughter echoing through the lodge.

          FADE OUT.

The sound of the Gingerdead Man's maniacal laughter continues over the credits, mixed with Christmas carols played in a haunting, minor key.

          THE END.

BERNIE (excitedly) Take this road, it'll cut ten minutes off our time!

Richard takes the turn, and they arrive at the bank in record time.

           CUT TO:

           INT. BANK - DAY

The group rushes inside, grabbing the gold and making a run for it. The mafia is hot on their heels, but they manage to get away just in time.

WINSTON (excitedly) We did it! We're rich!

RICHARD (proudly) And we're still alive!

           LARRY (happily) And Bernie's back!

BERNIE (smiling) And I couldn't be happier.

           CUT TO:

           EXT. ROAD - DAY

The group continues their road trip, laughing and celebrating their newfound wealth. But, their joy is short-lived as they soon discover that the mafia has caught up to them again.

WINSTON (worriedly) What do we do now?

           RICHARD (determinedly) We fight!

           INT. LARRY'S APARTMENT - DAY

Richard, Larry, Winston, and Bernie are all in Larry's apartment, looking at the gold bars from the safety deposit box.

LARRY (excitedly) Can you believe it? We're rich!

RICHARD (skeptical) But what about the mafia? They're still after us.

WINSTON (excitedly) We can handle them!

BERNIE (smiling) I've always been lucky with the ladies, but now I'm lucky with money too!

LARRY (laughing) We'll split the money four ways and live the life of luxury!

Suddenly, there's a loud knock at the door.

RICHARD (whispering) It's the mafia! Quick, hide Bernie!

Winston and Larry hide Bernie in a closet while Richard goes to answer the door. It's two police officers.

POLICE OFFICER 1 (officially) We received a tip that Bernie Lomax was seen in this apartment.

RICHARD (nervously) Bernie Lomax? I've never heard of him.

POLICE OFFICER 2 (suspiciously) Really? Then why does it look like someone's hiding in that closet over there?

Richard tries to come up with an excuse, but Winston and Larry burst out of the closet with Bernie.

WINSTON (excitedly) Bernie's back from the dead!

The police officers are shocked and Bernie gives them a charming smile.

BERNIE (smiling) Gentlemen, let me explain.

The police officers listen to Bernie's story and how the gold was obtained through a series of unfortunate events. In the end, they confiscate the gold as evidence, but Bernie, Richard, Winston, and Larry all escape unscathed.

INT. COLLEGE DORM ROOM - DAY

Winston is in his college dorm room, surrounded by his new friends. He regales them with the story of Bernie's return from the dead and the wild adventure they went on.

WINSTON (excitedly) And that's how I became a millionaire, even if it was just for a little while.

His friends are in awe and Winston realizes that his bond with his father and Uncle Larry will last forever.

WINSTON (V.O) (nostalgically) The adventure may be over, but the memories will last a lifetime.

The screen fades to black as the theme music starts to play.

           THE END

         "Ghoulies Go to the Hamptons"

The Ghoulies are back and causing chaos in the luxurious Hamptons. Nick and his girlfriend Tiffany are spending a long weekend in the Hamptons, where Nick is meeting Tiffany's wealthy family for the first time.

          Act 1:

Nick and Tiffany arrive at the Hamptons mansion and are greeted by Tiffany's parents.

Tiffany's Mother: "Welcome to our home, dear. We're so glad you could make it."

Nick: "Thank you, it's beautiful here. I can't wait to show off my comic book collection to your husband."

Tiffany: "I told you he was a collector too, Nick."

Nick is browsing a local comic store when he finds the Ghoulish comic.

Nick: "Wow, this is rare. I've never seen anything like it before."

Comic Store Owner: "That's a one of a kind, my friend. It's said to bring the ghoulies to life when it's read."

Nick: "I have to have it."

Nick brings the comic back to the mansion and hides it in his luggage.

Nick: "I can't wait to read this, but I'll wait till we get back home."

          Act 2:

Tiffany's mother finds the comic in Nick's luggage and reads it.

Tiffany's Mother: "What is this strange comic book? I'm curious."

The ghoulies are unleashed upon the Hamptons.

Tiffany: "Nick, what have you done? The ghoulies are here!"

Nick: "I didn't know this would happen, we have to stop them."

Nick and Tiffany come up with a plan to use the spell from the comic to suck the ghoulies back in.

Nick: "I remember reading a spell in the comic, it's our only chance."

Tiffany: "We have to find the ingredients, and fast."

          Act 3:

As they gather the ingredients, Nick and Tiffany face off against the ghoulies in a series of intense battles.

Nick: "Come on, we can do this."

          Tiffany: "I'm right behind you."

They are able to perform the spell and suck the ghoulies back into the Ghoulish comic.

          Nick: "It's done, they're gone."

          Tiffany: "We did it."

          Ending:

Nick and Tiffany say goodbye to Tiffany's family and head back home.

Nick: "I'm glad we saved the Hamptons, and our relationship with your family."

Tiffany: "Me too, but I can't help but wonder what other secrets that comic book holds."

Nick: "I don't know, but we'll have to be careful in the future."

          Tiffany: "I'm sure we will."

The camera lingers on the Ghoulish comic, hinting at the possibility of a sequel.

We see Jamie, a 16-year-old boy, sitting on his front porch, staring off into space. He looks sad and alone.

It's been a year since my parents passed away. I don't know what to do without them.

Suddenly, a small imp named MUNCHIE appears next to Jamie. Jamie jumps in surprise.
Jamie and Munchie are sitting in Jamie's first class of the day. Jamie is taking notes while Munchie is causing chaos around the room. The teacher, MR. JOHNSON, is getting increasingly frustrated.

Munchie, you need to leave the class.

Death Wish 3 Reunion

Death Wish 3 is the GREATEST action sequel of all time in my eyes. It is non-stop action with a lot of one-liners that move the insane plot along. It was the one Death Wish shown on WPIX channel 11 often on Saturdays and my dad always made sure we watched it. So, it was such an honor to team up with Chris Rauch who runs the Charles Bronson Fan Account on Twitter @bronsontweets9, and do a never before seen Death Wish 3 reunion with 3 of the main baddies. We got Alex Winter (Hermosa), Tony Spiridakis (Angel), and Kirk Taylor (The Giggler) together to reminisce about the movie and talk about Charles Bronson in honor of the movie’s release date of Nov 1 and Charles Bronson’s 100th birthday on Nov 3.

Their stories were fascinating whether it was about how caring Charles Bronson was (see clip above), their audition process, behind the scenes, and how they became fast friends on set. Alex, Tony, and Kirk all were still asking themselves 36 years later, “Why did Charles Bronson care about us?” They all came up with the same answer, he was a genuine person that truly cared about them. Whether it was making sure Kirk pushed him hard in that scene or telling him to eat a banana every day or encouraging Tony to change his name to “Tony Spirit”, it was because Charles cared. Bronson at this point was commanding a huge chunk of every Cannon film budget as his salary, but he still cared about everyone he worked with which is the opposite of stories you hear about some stars nowadays in straight-to-streaming films.

The opportunity to hear behind the scene stories from 3 of the main villains was special. They talked about how Michael Winner ran a set, the shortcuts Cannon took that led to some injuries, and lots more. But the one thing I will never forget was that we reunited friends from 36 years ago and they thanked US for bringing that back together. When I started this podcast with Jamie over 30 months ago, I thought I would talk to some interesting people whose work I loved, but I never thought I would partake in something like a reunion, let alone my favorite sequel Death Wish 3, but reuniting friends was something special.

Robocop 3 and why it didn't work.

We recently reviewed "Robocop 3" and it is polar opposites of the 1st two movies. No blood, less action, and less Robocop. The film made money in the theaters (according to some websites and other websites claim it didn't), so it is a "success" in the eyes of the suits, but who was to blame for why it was so different from the first 2? So I surfed the internet that Al Gore graciously gave us and did my research about it.

First, off Fred Dekker the director wanted the movie to be VERY different. He wanted A LOT more action because of the introduction of the "Roboninja", he wanted Hong Style stunt teams, but it wasn't in the budget. Then the blood and action got dialed down because the Robocop franchise was targeting a younger audience after it launched its Robocop cartoon and every Robocop toy imaginable was on the market. How could they make a Robocop 3 that their newest fan base couldn't see? They couldn't, so Fred Dekker was forced to make a PG-rated Robocop which is comical when you think about Alex Murphy's graphic death scene in the first one. Instead, we got a movie that featured a 10-year-old hacker named Nikko more than Robocop, which as a ten-year-old I would've loved, but older it just feels off a bit. Nikko, who is the greatest hacker ever, saved EVERYONE in the movie, watch it if you don't believe us.

Fred also had an idea where Nancy Allen's character, who died in the end, comes back as a Robocop, which would've been fantastic, but we didn't get that. We got a movie that had Robocop obsolete for most of it. The silver lining of the movie is its cast which is full of budding stars and Rip Torn. It has Jodi Long, Jeff Garlin, Bradley Whitford, Stephen Root, and more. I just wanted MORE Robocop and more action because when Robocop was on screen, he had his classic one-liners that is what you loved about Robocop.

Even if Peter Weller could've reprised his role wouldn't have changed the direction of the movie, Peter was stuck filming David Cronenberg's "Naked Lunch" at the time. The studio needed the movie to target its toy-loving and cartoon-watching audience, kids. As a sequel lover, I am happy it was made, so 28 years later we could review it on our podcast "The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel."

Actors Are More Than Just Their IMDb

Actor Jack O'Halloran had Quite the Story to Tell

So a few years back I was working with a PR guy and he would set me up with some great guests and in exchange I would interview up-and-coming clients of his, to help them gain exposure. So he knew our show's (The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel) format of interviewing people who worked on sequels and reviewing them. So when he asked me one day, "Are you a fan of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies?"

          "YES!"

"How would you like to interview "Non"?"

Of course, I said yes and started preparing for the interview with Actor Jack O'Halloran. I don't take interviews lightly because I know some of these people do a TON of interviews and I want our chat to be one that they have fun doing and they are talking about things that they don't about a lot. So I could guess that Jack gets asked a lot about "Superman", so I watched a bunch of his credits on IMDb until I discovered he was a boxer, then the floodgates opened.

Above is an audio excerpt and below is a written excerpt from the interview where I asked a question that felt like Jack doesn't get asked often by his reaction and the excited tone in his voice.

One thing I have to ask you when I was looking at all your bios on different websites. It's pretty cool. You're in the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.

So, one thing I read on there is you got a phone call from Muhammad Ali. is that true?

: (starts laughing) Yeah, Ali and I were good friends and he had moved in the Cherry Hill. He bought a house in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He was with a guy called Gene Kilroy, was the guy that was around them a lot and they called me from the car, and he said, "you have to do me a favor." I said, yeah, well, I'll do your favor, sign a contract to fight me. Ali said, yeah, we'll work that out, but you're fighting my brother Rahman, get him out of boxing, you know? So, I said, Rahman Ali's your brother? And he said, "yes."

I was fighting Rahman Ali in San Diego. I said, oh shit, I better go in the gym a couple days, I knocked his brother out. He never fought again. Then he and I were supposed to fight, when he fought Norton, he was supposed to fight me, but that's another story. We were all signed, and we had a deal put together, but Norton was owned by some very wealthy people, you know, Bob Byron and art Rifkin, and the took $3 million and went to Chicago and they gave it to Mohammad Ali's father, then he called me on the phone, and he was crying actually.

Ali said," I don't, I don't know how to tell you this, but you know, I don't have any control over it." So, he fought Norton in San Diego and then we were supposed to fight in Australia when he fought Bugner and then we're supposed to fight another time somewhere, but it just never seemed to materialize.

That is just an appetizer of how interesting my chat with Jack O'Halloran was. Jack also talked about his father, Albert Anastasia, who was an Italian-American mobster, hitman, and crime boss. One of the founders of the modern American Mafia. Plus a story about being there the night before JFK was shot in Dallas and he tells me who shot him.

TIL; There is a Sequel Script for Roger Rabbit 2 from 1989 and Here's What I Found. I discovered JJ Abrams was asked by Spielberg to an outline, Zemeckis has a script and even CGI Test footage from 1998.

So the other day I was looking for movie posters, actually “movie sequel posters” is what I searched on eBay, when I came across the most glorious poster I have ever laid eyes on, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2".

Then I went to down this rabbit hole, pun intended, where I later found out the poster is an art piece from 2016 that has nothing to do with the sequel, but boy did I find out some cool stuff. Let’s dive in, shall we?

So I did what any normal person does nowadays when they are looking for answers, Google, and I found so much amazing information that my sequel-loving heart almost exploded. I found a script titled “Roger Rabbit Two” - “The Toon Platoon”, later revised to “Who Discovered Roger Rabbit” (Here is the link to it) and I also found a Disney wiki page dedicated to it that has the synopsis and character breakdowns which is so great.

Plot: Roger Rabbit 2: The Toon Platoon is set just before the start of World War II and starts with Roger living with a human family not knowing he is a toon until the family tells him that he is actually… A Toon and from there he sets off to Hollywood where he befriends two humans, Richard and Wendy, and his future wife, Jessica Krupnick (aka Jessica Rabbit). Rich gets a job as an actor and Roger stumbles on the set where he is discovered by Hollywood execs. Pearl Harbor happens then Wendy and Jessica find out their boss, Otto Green, is working for the Nazis (wait what?). Otto kidnaps both girls, enslaves Jessica as a Toyko-Rose propagandist, and uses Wendy as a bargaining trip. This has both Roger and Rich join the Army to fight in the war which has a ton of cameos including the likes of Mickey Mouse, Tasmania Devil, Droopy, Tweety, and many more. The ending is pretty rad, so read the last few pages if you’d like, I don’t want to be a spoiler.

So I sorta understand why Steven Spielberg didn’t like it and didn’t move forward with it, but you can read the script for yourself here.

Also, I found on IMDb that director Robert Zemeckis said that he has the perfect script for a sequel that picks up where the last one left off. It almost got off the ground and even shot test footage in 1998 (see below), but never made it off the ground due to waning audience interest and budget concerns. Zemeckis wants to do it but claims Disney would never want a highly sexualized Jessica Rabbit nowadays.

So that is where my hopes for a sequel ends, or does it because on IMDb there is a “Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2” said to be coming out in 2022. Although it gets our hopes up, there isn’t much information on there or cast attached, but hopefully, it happens, so a new generation can be added to the Toon crew with the likes of Powder Puff Girls, Spongebob, and maybe even Wreck-it Ralph can help.

One last awesome bit of information that I found, but it has to do with some test footage for the original film that was shot around 1983 with, wait for it, Paul Reubens as the voice of Roger (see below). So I will continue to keep my pulse on the Roger Rabbit sequel, but until then I am going to show my daughter “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” for the very first time.

So last June, we were about 15 months in doing the podcast and I interviewed a lot of big names like William Sadler, Robert Hays, Tiny Lister, Vanessa Angel, and more, so I was getting more confident, the more and more I did. Then one day through a connection I made, Hollywood is big on connections and so is podcasting, they reached out to say, “Would you want to interview Eric Roberts.” Right away I said, “Of course,” then I got nervous thinking, “Oh my god, this is Eric Roberts. A living legend.”

So I did my research watching as much of Eric’s acting resume as I could with my wife. Side note we watched a great movie called “The Ambulance”, starring Eric Roberts and James Earl Jones, that has Eric playing a Marvel Comic illustrator and there is a Stan Lee sighting! Anyways, so a week before the interview I was told Eric’s wife Eliza would be joining him for our chat and then I looked her up and wow. Eliza has quote the resume herself, she played “Brunella” in the John Landis comedy “Animal House” plus she was in his first big film “Schlock”. Eliza is also Hollywood Royalty because of her screenwriting parents, her mom wrote on big time tv shows like “Bewitched” and her dad wrote the movies “The Firm” and “Sabrina”, so she grew up in the business. The day finally came and I could not believe how amazing they were to talk to and the way they met is the perfect story for a romantic comedy. Here the excerpt about how they met below.

And also a child magnet there are a lot of kids from getting on the plane who wanted to see the kitty. So the plane lands and when I went home, I had to quickly go to a play I was in and I'm leaving the house in those days no cell phones, right. My babysitter came to the door as I was leaving and said," Hey, there's a call for you." I'm like, "I'm late, I have to go." And I said," Who is it?" He said, "Someone named Eric." I was just like, "I don't know". The dude(babysitter) covers the phone and says" Cause this sounds like Eric Roberts and I'm not going to tell Eric Roberts who knows you're here. Cause he hears me talking to you that you're not here. You're taking this call or I'm going to die"

So yeah, Negan from "The Walking Dead" played matchmaker and was Eliza's babysitter. WILD. That is just one of the so many great stories they told me on that day. All I can say is that 60ish minutes is something I will never forget. They both had some amazing behind the scene stories from some of my favorite movies of all time, but the one thing I will never forget is the kindest they both showed. I don’t know if they could tell through Zoom that I was nervous but they hurled some flattering compliments my way like,” You have a Hollywood look, are you an actor?” and Eric calling me, ” One cool dude.” I think that will be on the cover letter of my resume for any future employment. Would that get an HR manager's attention, "Woah, Eric Roberts called him a cool dude? Hire that man!" Maybe I will do that.

Face Off 2: Electric Boogaloo

Face/Off 2 was just announced as a direct sequel, so being Doug the Sequel Dude, I took a stab at how the movie should be played out, sorta. ENJOY

So news broke last week that a remake of the 1997 John Woo classic "Face/Off" was in the works and I was sorta happy, but I really wanted it to be a sequel. Then the writer/director attached to the movie, Adam Wingard who made "You're Next", "The Guest", "V/H/S", "Godzilla vs Kong", and more, came out and made my sequel loving heart skip a beat when he uttered the word, "Sequel." So after I woke up from the smelling salts administered by the paramedics who arrived after passing out from excitement, it got me thinking of how they can pull this off to be successful and to make the fans happy. Because let's be honest, it has to be Cage vs Travolta, oh I know I know Castor Troy is dead... But what if he wasn't. What if they do some exposition, which will be corny but who cares, that Castor changed bodies with Eve Archer.... Just kidding, but now for a serious idea....

Let's say Castor does swap bodies with some agent, how about Mike from Desperate Housewives(yes he's in it) after the ambulance ride, then that agent disappeared, so the movie opens with that and then FINALLY 24 years later the technology is in place for Castor to use a 3D printer to print himself new skin. Stay with me. Then Sean Archer who is semi retired, has to come out because someone is committing crimes and man in a baseball hat in some grainy security footage looks like Castor. Then the 1st half of the movie is Sean looking for Castor and just missing him until they meet face to face once again, but oh no it's not really Castor, it's the President of the United States! Castor swapped faces with the president in order to get to a secret room in the White House where they keep George Washington's Teeth that has a treasure map... OH MY GOD, I might have lost you, but National Treasure slipped in there somehow(that is a sequel in the works too), but honestly get Cage back in it, so we get a Face/Off rematch 24 years in the making. Adam Wingard, if you need any help, call me. 1-800 SEQUELS.

Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel 35 years in the making and we are all for it. The cast is star studded with Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Val Kilmer (Iceman!), and Mile Teller playing the role of Goose's son. I love sequels, so I am all for it, but Meg Ryan is not on the IMDb, which is a shame since she was Mrs. Goose. Also, I would like a Kelly McGillis cameo, because she was so great in the first one and such an important part to that film. I just hope the actors I listed, who some aren't even in the trailer play a significant role in the movie, because who doesn't want a scene where Maverick has Iceman come in to teach the pilots a thing or two. Plus I kind of want Jon Hamm singing the Righteous Brothers with Cruise to some chick at the bar. Let's take a look at the IMDb synopsis since the trailer doesn't give us too much.

IMDb synopsis: After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

Okay wow, not much at all from that. Everyone knows the perfect years later sequel formula is, "Old throwback references + new topical storyline= $" and lets hope they follow, because of the reports of a 150 plus million dollar budget. So here is me giving it the old college try. So Maverick is teaching pilots and one of his new students is Goose's son. That element alone means a shirtless volleyball scene has to happen. Then since my formula needs a topical storyline, Russia, it's gotta involve Russia. I guess Ed Harris could play a good Russian president, but it will probably be just a random actor, because they need to recoup that budget, so they won't directly attack Putin by name. Check back in 6 months and we will see if I am right.
